PREAMBLE

In the present age on one side the time and space are being conquered through advancement of science and every where there is a flood of comfort affording and luxury goods, while on the other side the entire humanity capture by miseries of extreme spiritual vexation, mental perturbance, Psychic interaction, frustration of mind and universal uncertainty sorrow and is incessantly sighing and gasping, the material and scientific advancement has not been able to cure these ailments Nay science in allegiance to political opportunists and personal profiteer has enormously increased to human miseries. The entire globe has become a hell, there is ablaze on all sides, and death is rampant on every side. The central theme of Irfan is exclusively FAQAR (Islamic mysticism) Sufism and spiritualism and this is most eminent side of Islam which has been almost forgotten by the Muslims. The Muslims have become so neglectful and unaware of the spiritual aspect of religion called Sufism and spiritualism that today for a code of abstinence and devotional exercises needed for recital, ponder prayer and purification of mind and soul we have to put forward a sanction and reference from religious law. A need has occurred to safeguard the sacred science of FAQAR, esoteric path and gnosis from Muslims in general and from onslaughts of Muslim jurisprudents s in particular. There are two aspects of Islam religion; one is the apparent and the other introspective. The extrovert aspect is named "SHARIAT" which is professed by the scholars and jurists. The introspective aspect is named FAQAR, Sufism and TARIQAT viz esoteric path which is followed by Mystics, Sufis and Aulias (saints). The seeker should first of all seek the preceptor and guide in worldly transactions. Because sages have said ' the physicians ought to be stout, the spiritual preceptor lean." Some people think that Tasawuf (Mysticism) is a mere compendium of whims and imaginations and the Sufis visualize their imaginations and whims personified in their drams and trances. But the real matter of Tasawuf is distinct from dreams and fancy imagination, quite clear of doubt and misgiving and quite free from whom and fancy like the true morn, it is clear and solid world where the real, sun is shining. The leaders of Sufism deduced the principles of Sufism from the basis of SHARIAT in the same as the leading religious directors and SHARIAT Jurisconsults have derived the religions propositions in light o the Quran, SUNNAH (Traditions) consensus of scholars' opinion and analogy. FAQAR and Sufism are synonyms and this was considered by the law giver of Islam, (The Holy Prophet peace be upon him), a matter of pride for himself. The special feature which has conferred upon Irfan the distinction of a unique master piece on spiritualism is the exposition of two rare, secret and closely guarded sciences and vivid description of their practices and prime disclosure of their philosophy. One of these is knowledge of concentration on personal name o f God (Allah) and the other is invoking the inmates of the graves. The former of the two viz TASSUWAR is to centralize and concentrate human thought and occult spiritual energies on one point (word Allah) and to attain strong will power and spiritual strength. The later viz DAWAT is astonishingly marvellous science of invoking and calling the departed souls, to meet them and hold discussion.
